About WinDirStat
At a glance: WinDirStat is a utility by The WinDirStat Team. The latest version is 2.9.3 for Windows. Price: Free. Licence: GPL-3.0. Official website: windirstat.net.
WinDirStat (Windows Directory Statistics) is a free, open-source disk usage viewer for Windows. It scans a drive and shows what is taking up space in three linked views: a folder list sorted by size, a colourful treemap where each rectangle is a file, and a list of file types.
It makes it easy to spot huge forgotten files — old videos, installers, backups — and delete or move them to free space. Recent versions are much faster and add features such as duplicate-file detection.
Best for: Finding out why your drive is full.

Safety
Where these links come from
Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.
Check the file after downloading (optional)
Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.
- Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run
Get-FileHash .\filename - Mac: open Terminal and run
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename
Help
WinDirStat: frequently asked questions
Is this the official WinDirStat download?
Yes. The download buttons link directly to the developer’s own servers (github.com/windirstat). DownloadFrom.net does not host, modify or bundle WinDirStat; we only list the official files and their SHA-256 checksums so you can verify them.
Which Windows file should I download?
For most PCs, choose the recommended 64-bit MSI installer (.msi). Pick an ARM64 file only for Windows on ARM devices (for example Snapdragon laptops), and MSI packages if you deploy software for an organisation. To check your PC, open Settings → System → About and look at “System type”.
Is WinDirStat free?
Yes. WinDirStat is free and open source (GPL).
Is it safe to delete files with WinDirStat?
WinDirStat only shows what is on your drive; it is up to you what to delete. Avoid deleting files in Windows or Program Files folders unless you know what they are.
Is there a Mac version?
No, WinDirStat is Windows-only.
