This policy explains what personal data downloadfrom.net processes, why, and for how long. The site is operated by Zubair Ahmad (“we”). If you have questions, contact us at downloadfromnet.info@gmail.com.
In short: we collect as little as possible. Files you convert never leave your device, we don’t require accounts, and we don’t keep a history of what you download.
1. Links you paste into the downloader
When you submit a link, it is sent to our server so we can identify the website and look up the file through that website’s public interface. The result is cached for up to 30 minutes so repeated requests are fast. The cache is stored by link, not by visitor — it is not connected to your identity.
2. Files you convert
The MP4 to MP3, Video to GIF, Compress Image and Image Converter tools work entirely inside your browser. Your files are never uploaded to our server and we cannot see them.
3. Abuse protection
To stop automated abuse we count how many lookups each visitor makes. For this we store a one-way, salted hash of your IP address — not the address itself — together with a counter. Counters expire automatically after at most 24 hours.
4. Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider records standard technical data when pages are requested (IP address, date and time, page, browser type) to keep the service secure and working. These logs are kept for a limited period in line with the provider’s retention practices and are not used to identify you.
5. Content loaded from other websites
Some results show images directly from the source website — for example YouTube thumbnails from i.ytimg.com. When your browser loads them, that website receives your IP address and browser information under its own privacy policy. Download links take you straight to the original file on the source website.
6. Contact form and email
If you contact us, we receive your name, email address and message by email. We use them only to reply and keep them only as long as needed to handle your request. We never add you to a mailing list.
7. Cookies
The tools themselves don’t set cookies. The third-party services described below may set cookies or use similar technologies. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time.
8. Analytics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (for example which tools are popular), so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes data such as pages visited, device type and approximate location. You can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to opt out.
Legal bases (EU/UK visitors)
- Looking up links, caching results, abuse protection and server logs: our legitimate interest in providing a secure, working service (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Answering your messages: steps taken at your request (Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in responding.
- Advertising and analytics cookies, where used: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, object to or restrict its processing, and receive a copy of it. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. To use these rights, email downloadfromnet.info@gmail.com.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU), and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data.
