About Notepad++

Tabs let you keep many files open at once, and powerful search and replace (including regular expressions across whole folders), macros and plug-ins make it a favourite tool for programmers, system administrators and writers alike.

Safety
Where these links come from
Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.
Check the file after downloading (optional)
Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.
- Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run
Get-FileHash .\filename - Mac: open Terminal and run
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename
Help
Notepad++: frequently asked questions
Is this the official Notepad++ download?
Yes. The download buttons link directly to the developer’s own servers (github.com/notepad-plus-plus). DownloadFrom.net does not host, modify or bundle Notepad++; we only list the official files and their SHA-256 checksums so you can verify them.
Which Windows file should I download?
For most PCs, choose the recommended 64-bit installer (.exe). Pick an ARM64 file only for Windows on ARM devices (for example Snapdragon laptops), and MSI packages if you deploy software for an organisation. To check your PC, open Settings → System → About and look at “System type”.
Is Notepad++ free?
Yes. Notepad++ is free and open source under the GPL.
Is there Notepad++ for Mac?
No. Notepad++ is Windows-only. Visual Studio Code is a free cross-platform alternative.
Where is the official Notepad++ download?
Official releases are published on notepad-plus-plus.org and the project’s GitHub page; the links on this page point to the official GitHub release files.
