About Python
Python is a popular, beginner-friendly programming language used for web development, data analysis, automation, scientific computing and artificial intelligence. It is developed by the Python Software Foundation and the community, and is free and open source.
The official Windows installer from python.org includes the Python interpreter, the pip package manager, the IDLE editor and the “py” launcher. During setup, ticking “Add python.exe to PATH” lets you run python from any terminal.
Best for: Learning to program, scripting, data analysis and machine-learning projects.
This page tracks the latest stable Python 3 release. Some libraries take a few weeks to support a brand-new version; if a package fails to install, the previous Python 3 release is a safe choice.

Safety
Where these links come from
Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.
Check the file after downloading (optional)
Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.
- Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run
Get-FileHash .\filename - Mac: open Terminal and run
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename
Help
Python: frequently asked questions
Is this the official Python download?
Yes. The download buttons link directly to the developer’s own servers (python.org). DownloadFrom.net does not host, modify or bundle Python; we only list the official files and their SHA-256 checksums so you can verify them.
Which Windows file should I download?
For most PCs, choose the recommended 64-bit portable, no install (.zip). Pick an ARM64 file only for Windows on ARM devices (for example Snapdragon laptops), and MSI packages if you deploy software for an organisation. To check your PC, open Settings → System → About and look at “System type”.
Is Python free?
Yes. Python is free and open source under the Python Software Foundation License.
Should I tick “Add python.exe to PATH”?
For most beginners, yes — it lets you type python and pip in Command Prompt or PowerShell. You can also use the “py” launcher, which works without it.
Which installer should I use on Windows?
Choose the 64-bit installer for almost all modern PCs. Use the ARM64 installer only on Windows ARM devices.
