About Docker Desktop
Docker Desktop is the official app from Docker, Inc. for building, running and sharing containerised applications on Windows and macOS. It bundles the Docker Engine, Docker CLI, Docker Compose and an optional Kubernetes cluster with a graphical dashboard.
On Windows it runs containers using the WSL 2 backend (or Hyper-V), so hardware virtualisation must be enabled. On Macs it is available for both Apple Silicon and Intel.
Best for: Developers who build or run containerised apps on their own computer.
Licence: Docker Desktop is free for personal use, education, non-commercial open-source projects and small businesses (fewer than 250 employees AND less than $10 million annual revenue). Larger organisations need a paid Docker subscription.
System requirements
- Windows: 64-bit (x64), ARM64

Safety
Where these links come from
Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.
Check the file after downloading (optional)
Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.
- Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run
Get-FileHash .\filename - Mac: open Terminal and run
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename
Help
Docker Desktop: frequently asked questions
Is this the official Docker Desktop download?
Yes. The download buttons link directly to the developer’s own servers (desktop.docker.com). DownloadFrom.net does not host, modify or bundle Docker Desktop; we only list the official files and their SHA-256 checksums so you can verify them.
Which Windows file should I download?
For most PCs, choose the recommended 64-bit installer (.exe). Pick an ARM64 file only for Windows on ARM devices (for example Snapdragon laptops), and MSI packages if you deploy software for an organisation. To check your PC, open Settings → System → About and look at “System type”.
Apple Silicon or Intel — which Mac file do I need?
Open the Apple menu → About This Mac. If it shows “Chip: Apple M…”, download the Apple Silicon version; if it shows “Processor: … Intel”, download the Intel version.
Is Docker Desktop free?
It is free for personal use, education, non-commercial open source and small businesses (under 250 employees and under $10 million revenue). Commercial use in larger companies requires a paid Pro, Team or Business subscription.
Does Docker Desktop need WSL 2 on Windows?
The WSL 2 backend is recommended and is what most people use. Hardware virtualisation must be enabled in your PC’s firmware.
Which Mac file should I download?
Choose Apple Silicon for Macs with M-series chips and Intel for older Macs. Apple menu → About This Mac shows which chip you have.
