About OBS Studio
At a glance: OBS Studio is a media app by OBS Project. The latest version is 33.0.0 for Windows and 33.0.0 for macOS. Price: Free. Licence: GPL-2.0. Official website: obsproject.com.
OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software) is the free, open-source standard for recording your screen and streaming live to platforms such as YouTube and Twitch. It is maintained by the OBS Project and used by streamers, teachers, gamers and businesses alike.
You build “scenes” from sources — a game or window capture, webcam, images, text, browser pages — and switch between them while recording or streaming. Hardware encoding on NVIDIA, AMD, Intel and Apple chips keeps performance high even on modest PCs.
Best for: Recording tutorials, gameplay or meetings, and live streaming without paying for software.

Safety
Where these links come from
Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.
Check the file after downloading (optional)
Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.
- Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run
Get-FileHash .\filename - Mac: open Terminal and run
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename
Help
OBS Studio: frequently asked questions
Is this the official OBS Studio download?
Yes. The download buttons link directly to the developer’s own servers (github.com/obsproject, cdn-fastly.obsproject.com). DownloadFrom.net does not host, modify or bundle OBS Studio; we only list the official files and their SHA-256 checksums so you can verify them.
Which Windows file should I download?
For most PCs, choose the recommended 64-bit installer (.exe). Pick an ARM64 file only for Windows on ARM devices (for example Snapdragon laptops), and MSI packages if you deploy software for an organisation. To check your PC, open Settings → System → About and look at “System type”.
Apple Silicon or Intel — which Mac file do I need?
Open the Apple menu → About This Mac. If it shows “Chip: Apple M…”, download the Apple Silicon version; if it shows “Processor: … Intel”, download the Intel version.
Is OBS Studio free?
Yes. OBS Studio is completely free and open source (GPL-2.0), with no watermark, time limit or paid version.
Can OBS record my screen without streaming?
Yes. Add a Display Capture or Window Capture source and click Start Recording — streaming is optional.
What format does OBS record in?
You can choose in Settings → Output. Hybrid MP4, MKV and MP4 are common choices; MKV-style formats are safer if a recording is interrupted.
