About balenaEtcher
At a glance: balenaEtcher is a utility by Balena Ltd.. The latest version is 2.1.9 for Windows and 2.1.9 for macOS. Price: Free. Licence: Apache-2.0. Official website: etcher.balena.io.
balenaEtcher is a free, open-source tool for writing operating-system images to USB drives and SD cards. It is especially popular for Raspberry Pi and Linux installers because of its simple three-step process: select image, select drive, flash.
Etcher validates the written data after flashing and hides system drives by default to reduce the risk of overwriting the wrong disk. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Best for: Flashing Raspberry Pi and Linux images to SD cards and USB drives.
Flashing erases everything on the target drive.

Where these links come from
Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.
Check the file after downloading (optional)
Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.
- Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run
Get-FileHash .\filename - Mac: open Terminal and run
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename
