About WinRAR
WinRAR is a well-known file archiver for Windows from RARLAB, created by Eugene Roshal, the inventor of the RAR format. It creates RAR and ZIP archives and extracts most other formats, including 7z, TAR, GZ, ISO and CAB.
WinRAR is “trialware”: you can try it free for 40 days, after which a licence is required — although the program keeps working and shows a reminder. If you only need to open archives, free tools such as 7-Zip or PeaZip do the job.
Best for: Users who need to create RAR archives or use recovery records.
WinRAR is not free software: it offers a 40-day trial, after which a paid licence is required.

Safety
Where these links come from
Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.
Check the file after downloading (optional)
Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.
- Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run
Get-FileHash .\filename - Mac: open Terminal and run
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename
Help
WinRAR: frequently asked questions
Is this the official WinRAR download?
Yes. The download buttons link directly to the developer’s own servers (rarlab.com). DownloadFrom.net does not host, modify or bundle WinRAR; we only list the official files and their SHA-256 checksums so you can verify them.
Which Windows file should I download?
There is one Windows download: the 64-bit installer (.exe).
Is WinRAR free?
No. WinRAR is trialware with a 40-day evaluation period; a licence is required after that. 7-Zip and PeaZip are free alternatives for extracting RAR files.
Can I create RAR files with free software?
Only WinRAR (and RARLAB’s own tools) can create RAR archives. Free tools can extract RAR but not create it.
Is this the official WinRAR download?
Yes. The files come from rarlab.com, the developer’s own site. Fake WinRAR sites have been used to spread malware, so avoid unofficial sources.
