About Thunderbird
Thunderbird is a free, open-source email client from MZLA Technologies, a subsidiary of the Mozilla Foundation. It manages several email accounts in one place and also includes a calendar, address book, chat and an RSS/news feed reader.
Thunderbird supports OpenPGP encryption out of the box, has powerful filters and search, and can be extended with add-ons. It is funded by user donations rather than ads.
Best for: People who want a desktop email app that is free, private and not tied to one provider.

Safety
Where these links come from
Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.
Check the file after downloading (optional)
Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.
- Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run
Get-FileHash .\filename - Mac: open Terminal and run
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename
Help
Thunderbird: frequently asked questions
Is this the official Thunderbird download?
Yes. The download buttons link directly to the developer’s own servers (download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net). DownloadFrom.net does not host, modify or bundle Thunderbird; we only list the official files and their SHA-256 checksums so you can verify them.
Which Windows file should I download?
For most PCs, choose the recommended 64-bit installer (.exe). Pick an ARM64 file only for Windows on ARM devices (for example Snapdragon laptops), and MSI packages if you deploy software for an organisation. To check your PC, open Settings → System → About and look at “System type”.
Is Thunderbird free?
Yes. Thunderbird is free and open source (MPL-2.0), funded by donations.
Does Thunderbird work with Gmail and Outlook.com?
Yes. Enter your email address and Thunderbird sets up most popular providers automatically, including secure OAuth sign-in.
Is Thunderbird still maintained?
Yes. Thunderbird is actively developed, with regular feature and security releases.
