About Obsidian
At a glance: Obsidian is a productivity and communication app by Obsidian. The latest version is 1.14.5 for Windows and 1.14.5 for macOS. Price: Free, with optional paid plans or features. Licence: Proprietary. Official website: obsidian.md.
Obsidian is a note-taking and knowledge-management app that stores your notes as plain Markdown files in a folder on your own computer. Because the files are yours, you can open them with any other editor and keep them forever.
Links between notes, backlinks and a graph view help you build a personal “second brain”, and thousands of community plug-ins add features such as tasks, calendars and kanban boards. Obsidian is free for personal and work use; optional paid services include Sync and Publish.
Best for: Writers, students and researchers who want private notes they fully own.

Safety
Where these links come from
Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.
Check the file after downloading (optional)
Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.
- Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run
Get-FileHash .\filename - Mac: open Terminal and run
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename
