About Discord
Discord is a free voice, video and text chat app organised around communities called servers. It started with gamers but is now used by study groups, creators, open-source projects and friends to hang out and talk.
Servers have text channels and drop-in voice channels, and you can screen-share, stream games, and send direct messages. Discord is free to use; Discord Nitro is an optional subscription with perks such as larger uploads and custom emoji everywhere.
Best for: Chatting with friends and communities by voice, video and text.

Safety
Where these links come from
Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.
Check the file after downloading (optional)
Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.
- Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run
Get-FileHash .\filename - Mac: open Terminal and run
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename

Discord: frequently asked questions
Is this the official Discord download?
Yes. The download buttons link directly to the developer’s own servers (stable.dl2.discordapp.net, dl.discordapp.net). DownloadFrom.net does not host, modify or bundle Discord; we only list the official files and their SHA-256 checksums so you can verify them.
Which Windows file should I download?
There is one Windows download: the 64-bit installer, current user only (.exe).
Is Discord free?
Yes. Discord is free to use. Nitro is an optional paid subscription with extra perks.
Do I need the desktop app?
No — Discord also runs in a web browser — but the desktop app offers better voice quality, push-to-talk and screen-sharing features.
Is Discord safe for children?
Discord requires users to be at least 13 (older in some countries) and offers safety settings. Parents should review the Family Center and privacy settings.
