About Telegram Desktop
Telegram Desktop is the official Telegram app for Windows and macOS. Telegram is a cloud-based messaging service focused on speed and security: your chats sync across phone, tablet and computer, so you can continue conversations anywhere.
It supports private chats, large groups, public channels, voice and video calls, and sending large files of any type. The desktop client is open source; you need a Telegram account, which is linked to your phone number.

Which Windows file should I download?
For most PCs, choose the recommended 64-bit installer, current user only (.exe). Pick an ARM64 file only for Windows on ARM devices (for example Snapdragon laptops), and MSI packages if you deploy software for an organisation. To check your PC, open Settings → System → About and look at “System type”.
Is Telegram Desktop free?
Yes. Telegram is free; Telegram Premium is an optional subscription with extra features. The desktop app itself is open source (GPL-3.0).
Do I need a phone to use Telegram Desktop?
You need a Telegram account registered with a phone number. After that you can log in on the desktop by scanning a QR code or entering a code.
