About Microsoft Edge
At a glance: Microsoft Edge is a web browser by Microsoft Corporation. The latest version is 156.0.4314.56 for Windows and 156.0.4314.56 for macOS. Price: Free. Licence: Proprietary. Official website: microsoft.com.
Microsoft Edge is Microsoft’s web browser, built on the open-source Chromium engine — the same base as Google Chrome — and pre-installed on Windows 10 and 11. It is also available for macOS, Linux and mobile.
Edge adds its own features on top of Chromium: vertical tabs, sleeping tabs that save memory, built-in tracking prevention, a PDF reader with annotation, and the Copilot AI assistant in the sidebar. You can use it with or without a Microsoft account.
Best for: Windows users who want a Chromium browser that is tightly integrated with Windows and Microsoft 365.

Safety
Where these links come from
Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.
Check the file after downloading (optional)
Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.
- Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run
Get-FileHash .\filename - Mac: open Terminal and run
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename

Microsoft Edge: frequently asked questions
Is this the official Microsoft Edge download?
Yes. The download buttons link directly to the developer’s own servers (download.microsoft.com, msedge.sf.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com). DownloadFrom.net does not host, modify or bundle Microsoft Edge; we only list the official files and their SHA-256 checksums so you can verify them.
Which Windows file should I download?
For most PCs, choose the recommended 64-bit MSI installer (.msi). Pick an ARM64 file only for Windows on ARM devices (for example Snapdragon laptops), and MSI packages if you deploy software for an organisation. To check your PC, open Settings → System → About and look at “System type”.
Is Microsoft Edge free?
Yes. Edge is free to download and use on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.
Edge is already on my PC — why download it?
Windows includes Edge and updates it automatically. The installers here are useful for reinstalling, for Macs, or for offline/IT deployment.
Can I use Chrome extensions in Edge?
Yes. Allow extensions from other stores in Edge’s extensions page, then install them from the Chrome Web Store.
