About Opera
Opera is a Chromium-based browser from Opera, a company originally founded in Norway, with features built in that other browsers need extensions for. It includes an ad blocker, a free browser VPN, messengers in the sidebar and the Aria AI assistant.
Because it is based on Chromium, websites behave as in Chrome and most Chrome extensions can be installed. Opera is free and available for Windows, macOS, Linux and mobile.
Best for: Users who want ad blocking, a free VPN and messengers built into one browser.
Opera’s built-in “VPN” is a browser proxy: it protects traffic inside Opera only, not other apps.
