About Android Studio
Android Studio is Google’s official development environment (IDE) for building Android apps. Based on JetBrains’ IntelliJ IDEA, it includes a code editor for Kotlin and Java, a visual layout and Jetpack Compose tools, a fast Android Emulator and profiling tools.
It is free and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. Android development needs a reasonably powerful computer — plenty of RAM and an SSD help a lot, especially when running the emulator.
Best for: Building and testing Android apps.
System requirements
- Windows: 64-bit (x64)

Safety
Where these links come from
Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.
Check the file after downloading (optional)
Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.
- Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run
Get-FileHash .\filename - Mac: open Terminal and run
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename
Help
Android Studio: frequently asked questions
Is this the official Android Studio download?
Yes. The download buttons link directly to the developer’s own servers (edgedl.me.gvt1.com). DownloadFrom.net does not host, modify or bundle Android Studio; we only list the official files and their SHA-256 checksums so you can verify them.
Which Windows file should I download?
There is one Windows download: the 64-bit installer (.exe).
Apple Silicon or Intel — which Mac file do I need?
Open the Apple menu → About This Mac. If it shows “Chip: Apple M…”, download the Apple Silicon version; if it shows “Processor: … Intel”, download the Intel version.
Is Android Studio free?
Yes. Android Studio is free to download and use.
Do I need to install Java separately?
No. Android Studio includes its own Java runtime (JetBrains Runtime).
Can I run Android Studio on 8 GB of RAM?
It runs, but the emulator and large projects benefit from 16 GB or more. Check Google’s current system requirements before installing.
