About Tailscale

Tailscale creates a private, encrypted network between your own devices — computers, phones and servers — wherever they are. It is built on WireGuard and needs no port forwarding or router setup.

Once devices are signed in to the same Tailscale account, they can reach each other securely as if they were on the same local network: access a home NAS, remote desktop into your PC, or reach a development server. A free personal plan is available; teams pay per user.

Best for: Securely reaching your own computers, servers and home network from anywhere.

System requirements

  • Windows: 64-bit (x64), 32-bit (x86), ARM64
  • macOS: macOS 13 Ventura or later · Apple Silicon & Intel

  • Exit nodes

Route internet traffic through one of your own devices.

  • Access controls

Decide which users and devices can reach what.

Safety

Where these links come from

Versions and download addresses are read automatically from winget (Windows) and Homebrew (macOS), the public package catalogues used by millions of developers. We only show a link when it points to the developer’s own official domain, and we never host, repackage or bundle the files — your browser downloads them directly from the developer.

Check the file after downloading (optional)

Compare the SHA-256 checksum shown above with the one of the file you downloaded. If they match, the file is exactly the one published by the developer.

  • Windows: open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run Get-FileHash .\filename
  • Mac: open Terminal and run shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/filename

Help

Tailscale: frequently asked questions

Is this the official Tailscale download?

Yes. The download buttons link directly to the developer’s own servers (pkgs.tailscale.com). DownloadFrom.net does not host, modify or bundle Tailscale; we only list the official files and their SHA-256 checksums so you can verify them.

Which Windows file should I download?

For most PCs, choose the recommended 64-bit MSI installer (.msi). Pick an ARM64 file only for Windows on ARM devices (for example Snapdragon laptops), and MSI packages if you deploy software for an organisation. To check your PC, open Settings → System → About and look at “System type”.

Is Tailscale free?

Tailscale has a free plan for personal use. Business and team features are paid.

Is Tailscale a normal VPN?

Not exactly. Instead of sending all traffic through a provider, it connects your own devices to each other. You can optionally route traffic through one of your devices as an exit node.

Do I need an account?

Yes. You sign in with an identity provider such as Google, Microsoft, Apple or GitHub to join devices to your network.
