About LM Studio
LM Studio is a desktop app for discovering, downloading and running large language models locally on Windows, macOS and Linux. Its graphical interface lets you search Hugging Face for models, download them and chat — no command line needed.
LM Studio can also run a local server compatible with the OpenAI API, so other apps can use your local models. It is free for personal use and, since July 2025, free for use at work too; no account is required.
Best for: Trying local AI models with an easy graphical app.

Is this the official LM Studio download?
Yes. The download buttons link directly to the developer’s own servers (installers.lmstudio.ai). DownloadFrom.net does not host, modify or bundle LM Studio; we only list the official files and their SHA-256 checksums so you can verify them.
Which Windows file should I download?
For most PCs, choose the recommended 64-bit installer (.exe). Pick an ARM64 file only for Windows on ARM devices (for example Snapdragon laptops), and MSI packages if you deploy software for an organisation. To check your PC, open Settings → System → About and look at “System type”.
Apple Silicon or Intel — which Mac file do I need?
Open the Apple menu → About This Mac. If it shows “Chip: Apple M…”, download the Apple Silicon version; if it shows “Processor: … Intel”, download the Intel version.
Is LM Studio free?
Yes. LM Studio is free for home and work use, with no account required. An Enterprise plan exists for organisations that need extra features.
Is LM Studio open source?
The app itself is not open source, but it runs open models and some of its components are open.
Will LM Studio run on my laptop?
Smaller models run on many laptops. LM Studio shows whether a model is likely to fit your memory before you download it.
